TRAINING COURSES AVAILABLE FROM
FACILITATED SOLUTIONS*
Addressing Workplace Conflict (2 days)
Effective conflict resolution skills are fundamental to healthy
workplaces. In this course, participants will examine basic assumptions
and understandings of conflict and communication styles, at the same time
learning conceptual tools, conflict resolution processes and communication
skills essential for resolving interpersonal conflicts. Participants will
learn to assess a conflict, deal with the aftermath, and practice the
processes and skills needed to be an effective manager of conflict.
Building a Respectful Workplace (1 day)
Many organizations are identifying “respect” as a fundamental value. Some
collective agreements have recently negotiated that failure to maintain a
respectful work environment is grievable. This course will explore what it
means to have a respectful workplace and ways of building and supporting a
respectful environment.
Delivering Difficult Feedback (1 day)
Effective Feedback is crucial for professional development. In spite of
countless evaluation resources, many people do not change problematic
behaviours. This course will focus on giving difficult feedback to ensure
changes take place and the relationship remains intact. This will be a
highly interactive course where theory and practice are combined. Major
focus will be in the workplace context.
Dealing with Employee Conflicts (2 days)
This course for managers explores how to assess the best way to respond as
a third party and equip others to resolve conflicts positively, to
minimize the negative impacts on all who are involved, and to prevent
re-occurrence. The course will teach a model for conducting a meeting
between two parties in conflict when you are in a position of authority
over them and will explore the benefits and limitations, and how to
maintain the role of a third party.
Communication at Work (1 day)
Understanding our personal communication style at work and how it
interacts with others is essential to a positive, productive workplace.
Using the style profile designed by Susan K. Gilmore and Patrick Fraleigh,
participants will build awareness of their natural strengths and will also
explore how their work style change in stressful situations. This course
offers participants exciting new possibilities for bringing out the best
in themselves and others. Participants will be expected to fill out an
inventory prior to the course.
Dealing with Angry People (2 days)
Like it or not, anger is inextricably linked with conflict. This course
addresses anger in conflict situations. Participants have the opportunity
to increase self-awareness and explore approaches to managing one’s own
anger and responding to another’s anger. This is an intense two-day
course.
Leading Meetings (1 day)
This course focuses on collaborative problem solving and decision making.
Attention is given to utilizing the skills of the people “around the
table.” The processes/frameworks used within meetings greatly determine
the experience and the dynamic of the meeting. The goal of facilitating
meetings in an open, productive and collaborative manner is a great
challenge facing most organizations.
Consensus Decision Making (1 day)
For organizations who want to develop the skill of collaborative decision
making, this course explores the benefits and challenges of
consensus-based decision making. Based on the concepts explored in Leading
Meetings, this course will provide specific contexts and ways to use the
consensus process within your organization. Discussion topics include
consensus principles and definitions, a consensus-building model, and
guidelines for implementation.
